As a Regional Information Technology and Software Engineering Center, RITSEC undertook the
initiative to support the Arab countries in developing their Information Technology and
Software Engineering sectors. RITSEC supported the Arab countries in this respect using
state-of-the-art tools and techniques, which it gained access to through the many international
alliances that it formed.
State-of-the-Art Software Engineering Tools
Among these tools that RITSEC utilized are the following:
-
Computer Aided Software Engineering (CASE)
which RITSEC gained through an agreement with Texas Instruments (TI), enabling it to acquire
13 copies of the CASE software and to receive training for 25 engineers.
- Information Engineering (IE)
- Information Strategy Planning (ISP)
- Structured Methodologies:
- Information Architecture,
which defines the functions and information
needs of the organization and identifies the alignment of the functions with the
information needs.
- Business Architecture,
which identifies who controls activities and
groups them into families of similar functions and date of similar types.
- Technical Architecture,
which identifies the hardware requirements and determines
the networking requirements
By utilizing these tools and techniques and capitalizing on its international alliances,
RITSEC trained and created a team of internationally certified software engineers.
RITSEC then built upon this experience and implemented a series of projects in several
Arab countries utilizing its highly specialized team of software engineers and the
latest available tools and techniques. This team then went to implement projects in
many other countries outside the Arab region.
The outcome of RITSEC's work in this field is grouped into implemented projects,
developed products, consultation and technical assistance services and events.
