"Most technology transfer projects involve only a single company; indeed, many involve
only a single technology, like CASE. More ambitious endeavors may involve a consortium of companies…
Very few are organized at the national level…Even rarer is an effort at the regional level, involving
multiple countries."

In 2002, the Regional Information Technology and Software Engineering Center
(RITSEC) celebrates a decade of success providing IT services and products to
countries in the Middle East and North Africa. As an incubator for the
development of IT projects and programs, RITSEC has broken new ground,
bringing together countries throughout the Arab region to work together
to develop a sustainable and self-sufficient Arab IT industry.
The United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and the Arab Fund for Economic
and Social Development (AFESD) established RITSEC as a regional non-profit
organization. Located in Cairo and hosted by the Egyptian government's Information
and Decision Support Center (IDSC), RITSEC's mission is to support the development
of the information technology and software industry in the Arab region. RITSEC
provides technical, professional, and developmental services in the area of
information technology to governmental, non-governmental, public, and private
organizations on the national, regional, and international level.
