In June 1997 RITSEC launched the Global Campus initiative reflecting a serious effort to
formulate a global learning environment through the intelligent integration of the evolving
information and communication technologies to support human resource development, training
and education through distance learning state-of-the-art approaches, tools and techniques.
The Global Campus provides a framework that allows worldwide learners to utilize a universal
pool of education courseware in multiple disciplines through an interactive on-line distance
learning environment. It involves the development and delivery of tailored academic and
professional Internet web-based courses to a worldwide student pool, and it links
universities, professors and students through its global platform, allowing them to
customize their learning needs and requirements.
The strategic objectives of the Global Campus initiative are to contribute to the development
of the nation's human resources and professional skill and make a first-class education
accessible to learners worldwide. The global campus aims at achieving it objectives through
a framework which consist of educational provider institutions, technical development and
operation management, local support centers, and end-users.
In the Global Campus framework, the educational resources are provided by top-rated
universities worldwide. It is the objective of the technical development and operation
management agency to blend the content inputs in new and innovative ways so as to create
a new breed of educational material that was not possible using classical learning/publishing
tools. The courseware is accessible only through reputable academic institutions worldwide that
are assigned as local support centers in their own countries
