The new unit provided consulting services for the Egyptian Environmental Affairs Agency (EEAA), which later became the Ministry of Environment, and enabled the organization to obtain support from national and international funding agencies. At the time of the formation of the Ministry, EITS provided office automation services and established a network and online presence for the new ministry. EITS continues to work closely with the Ministry of Environment and has implemented several joint projects, including a coastal monitoring system and an air pollution monitoring system funded by the Danish development agency DANIDA. Additionally, EITS worked with the Ministry to create an air pollution monitoring system that was funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). EITS provided technical support and implementation assistance for another DANIDA project, the Ministry's Environmental Information Monitoring Program (EIMP). EITS also provided technical support for information technology applications for Egypt's national parks in a project with the Ministry funded by the European Union.
