In 1992, RITSEC launched a groundbreaking program to provide complete information technology solutions
to help preserve the Arab region's rich cultural heritage. Focusing primarily on the preservation of
rare manuscripts, the presentation of museum collections and information on archeological sites, and
the dissemination of this material to the public, the program is the first of its kind in the region.
The Cultureware program uses a combination of imaging, text, sound, video, and special effects
technologies to create comprehensive information systems for use as educational, professional, and
cultural resources. Project teams implement systems from start to finish, building databases tailored
to the organization's needs, developing documentation and standards, providing training, and producing
resources such as CD-ROMs, information kiosks, and web sites.
