The 21st Century Cyber Clubs
Summary Table
The idea for the 21st Century Cyber Club was generated through collaborative efforts between RITSEC, governments, and for-profit and non-profit organizations. Each club is equipped with personal computers, software libraries, access to local and international networks, as well as two permanent computer literate staff members. RITSEC also provides each club with training programs and a business model structured to ensure the club's long-term sustainability.

RITSEC faced a number of challenges in the process of implementing this program, including a high computer-illiteracy rate, lack of funding, and a lack of awareness of the importance of these technologies in education. In spite of these barriers, RITSEC has established more than 100 cyber clubs throughout the country and has offered more than 50,000 hours of training. The program is also helping RITSEC achieve its goal of encouraging the long-term use of technology in Egyptian families. In a recent survey, more than 87% of parents responding to the questionnaire expressed interest in the computer courses offered in the program, and more than 93% of the children and young adults requested more specialized courses.
