During the launching seminar, RITSEC leaders were given the advice to "learn from the experiences
of others." RITSEC has implemented nearly 50 projects within the framework of its charter,
in partnership with Arab and international organization in a wide range of countries within
the region and globally. RITSEC has actively sought the advice and expertise of more than 12
leading international organizations in the field of information technology and software
engineering. Some of these partnerships and strategic alliances are as follows:
- Advanced Computer Communication (ACC)
RITSEC allied with ACC in 1994 for two major projects:
- Transfer of information technology to RITSEC and the region in the area of networking;
- Definition of mutual projects between ACC and RITSEC to develop networking software in Egypt;
- Establishment of a strong technical support and value-added marketing group to support networking; and
- Establishment of expertise in systems integration to provide support for regional projects.
Project I
Software development in the field of communication and development of related documentation,
including OSI routing protocol software for ACC router platforms: 4000 Series, Nile, Amazon
and Danube
Project II
The project's main objective was to automate the testing tools used by ACC, covering:
- Automated Regression Test Tools for IPX protocol
- Automated regression Test Tools for IP protocol
- Automated Regression Test Tools for Apple Talk protocol
- Automated Regression Test Tools for OSI protocol
- Technical Support for ACC La Post project in France
- AT&T
AT&T is a leading corporation in the field of communication networking and value-added
services. RITSEC formed an alliance with AT&T in 1993. In the course of this strategic
alliance, a joint seminar was conducted in Cairo in July 1994 addressing information
services and present and future challenges. The seminar was attended by representatives
from AT&T, RITSEC, and more than 100 technology and communication experts in Egypt.
AT&T also has provided technical input with respect to the development of packaged
systems for virtual markets value-added services.
- Battelle
A strategic alliance in the field of environment, the Internet, and projects in the
region.
- Booz Allen and Hamilton, Inc.
RITSEC and Booz Allen have mutual interests in the fields of software engineering and
technology transfer. The experience of both organizations is complementary and acts to
support the Arab region through applying new technologies on a large scale in order to
accelerate the development process. The scope of the alliance is to provide consultancy
services, implementation of specific projects, information engineering, human and
technical support, and marketing support.
- CMC Ltd. India Protocol Agreement
A joint cooperation agreement with CMC Ltd. India for establishing a joint
Egyptian/Indian trade information network.
- G77 CCI
A memorandum of understanding between the Government of Egypt and G77 CCI in the field of trade
information networks on a pilot basis utilizing RITSEC's TradeNet. The alliance calls for the
Egyptian government to provide TradeNet software to the G77 CCI Trade Information Network,
an access gateway in each of the participating countries in the pilot project, and a central
coordinating agency and a training facility in Egypt
- JMA Strategic Alliance
A strategic alliance with James Martin Associates (JMA), a pioneer in the field of
information engineering and CCASE. Within the scope of the alliance, the following
activities were undertaken:
- An initial round of training for RITSEC staff which produced certified information engineers.
- Hands-on work experience at JMA UK and Kuwait for three groups of information engineers which
resulted in the qualification of two engineers as consultants listed on the European
list of consultants.
- Acquiring five copies of IEF software
- Work on JMA assignment at the Ministry of Interior - Kuwait.
- Two IE staff members provided consultancy services at the Fort Credit European Head
Office.
- Maastricht School of Management
RITSEC has allied with one of the reputable institutes in Europe to offer academic
degree and professional programs in IT and management disciplines
- Oracle
Oracle is the world's second largest software developer. Oracle provides relational
database software, client/ server RDBMS, object oriented technology, and software
application programs. It has its own CASE tools that are widely used. RITSEC entered
into agreement with ORACLE for technology and professional skills transfer which will
allow cooperation in the development as well as the implementation of computer
software systems solutions in the region. The main activities to be carried out
through this alliance are training systems integration, technical support, systems
development, and the establishment of a multimedia center.
- SUN
SUN is a leading company in the field of UNIX-based workstations and networking solutions.
RITSEC entered into agreement with SUN to provide its regional organization with the
technical support, training systems development and arabization services needed for its
expansion. Special focus will be given to networking solutions, GIS, and Internet-based
services.
- Texas Instruments (TI)
RITSEC formed an alliance with TI, a leader in CASE tools, to acquire, utilize and
diffuse these new tools within its domain of work in the Arab region. The alliance will
focus on human resources development, project implementation and technical support,
product development, developmental activities, and conducting an IE/IEF university program.
- WTIC
RITSEC formed a partnership with the World Tourism Organization to establish a tourism
information center. The WTO will coordinate with relevant tourism information resources
to collect and make available all world tourism data required for the establishment of
the databases, utilizing the data already available in their own time series. RITSEC is
responsible for the management and administration activities for the establishment of WTIC.
